Zikr and Sama, First Friday of Every Month 7:30 - 9:30 PM, Durham NC.
Zikr (“remembrance”) and Sama (“listening”) are ancient Sufi spiritual practices of music, movement, singing, sacred sound, and deep listening, used by mystics for centuries to open and clear the heart. MUSIC EXPLORIUM
From I-40, take exit 278, "Apex, Hwy. 55, to Hwy. 54." At the bottom of the exit ramp, turn right onto Hwy. 55 toward Apex. Go through the traffic light at Hwy. 54, then go 7/10ths of a mile. Just past Sherwin-Williams and AW's BBQ Pit on the right, look for a blue sign on the right, "Kitt Creek Office Park." Turn right into the parking lot. (If you get to the light at Sedwick Road, you've gone too far.) After you turn into Kitt Creek, go toward the back of the lot, where the buildings are parallel to the highway. Music Explorium is in the middle building, 5314. Park around back of the building, and look for the Music Explorium sign on the back door.

RALEIGH FRIENDS MEETING HOUSE

In Raleigh, take the Wade Avenue exit from I-40 or from I-440. Go 1.4 miles past the Ridge Road traffic light and take the Oberlin Road exit, just past Jaycee Park. Turn right at the top of the ramp. Take the fourth right onto Bedford, then the first left onto Tower. The Raleigh Friends Meeting house is the second house on the right, with parking directly across the street on the left.

From I-40 in Chapel Hill, take the Hwy. 86 exit and turn towards Chapel Hill. Go 1.5 miles and turn right on Homestead. Go 1 mile and turn left at the light onto Seawell School. Then go 1/4 mile to Unity. - Or - from Estes Drive in Chapel Hill, turn at the light onto Seawell School and go 1.5 miles to Unity.

Honor the unity of all religions at the Universal Worship Service of Hazrat Inayat Khan. We will light a candle for each spiritual path and share wisdom from each tradition's scriptures. Join us for "Blessings of the Cosmos" with Saadi Neil Douglas-Klotz, exploring the inspiration and wisdom in Saadi's new book, Blessings of the Cosmos: Benedictions from the Aramaic Words of Jesus (to be released in Spring 2006), which follows in the tradition of the internationally acclaimed Prayers of the Cosmos. Through meditation, walking meditation, sacred movement, and Sufi Zikr (remembrance) practice, we explore Jesus' best-loved benedictions including the "great commandment," the promise of "many mansions", and the blessing of "greater works." Neil Douglas-Klotz (Saadi Shakur Chishti) is a senior spiritual guide (murshid) on the path of Sufism in the Sufi Ruhaniat International and the author of The Sufi Book of Life (Penguin 2005, see www.sufibookoflife.com) and other publications.
